Beate S. LechBeady Belle

It has been 4 years since this sensation of the Norwegian underground stunned Medicine Hat audiences with her compelling mixture of computer loops, strong grooves and intelligent lyrics. A brand new recording has just hit the streets, showing that this chanteuse continues to push the music in new directions.

Beady Belle is a collaboration between vocalist Beate S. Lech and bassist Marius Reksjo. They have been working together since they were music students in Oslo. Combining creative and sophisticated lyrics with imaginative computer generated loops, bass grooves, keys and drums this is one of the most seamless combination of electronic acoustic instruments on the planet.

Beate came up with the name Beady Belle for the group. As she says, “I think it sounds like the name of something beautiful, it’s feminine which is why it has now become my stage name as well as the name of the duo project.”

The transparent quality of Beate’s lyrics and the architecture of the songs driven by her haunting voice dovetail neatly with Marius’ unique rhythmic grooves and harmonic shading.

Belvedere, the just-released CD, incorporates folk instruments that add another dimension of integration and interest to the music. We know this show will sell out fast, so don’t be disappointed. Beady Belle will also appeal to the Groove Series crowd. For more information on the Groove Series, click here.
