Cumako
A Latin dance band that blends Venezuelan/
Afro-Cuban/Flamenco rhythms
with eclectic world sound and sophisticated
Jazz Improv, Cumako is at the
forefront of the new Latin/Fusion movement
in the world.
A new Calgary-based band, Cumako
has an intensely energetic rhythm section
that combines with their powerful
horns to create a unique rich fusion of
sound. Percussive influences include
the Cumbia, Cha-Cha, Salsa, Spanish
Flamenco and Jazz.
Inspired by the musical
roots of Venezuela, Mexico, Japan,
Canada, Bolivia, and Cuba. Cumako is
truly an inspiring fusion of world music.
And what better way to wind up this year’s JazzFest than on the Terrace of the Esplanade,
dancing and listening to great Latin inspired music.
No advance tickets are being sold to this festival closer. JazzFest volunteers get first dibs
on the seats up until 7PM. Then any available seat goes on sale to the public. It’ll be worth
lining up for!
