Shannon Gaye and F.U.J.A.

It’s earls. It’s JazzFest. It’s Shannon Gaye! Now appearing for a fourth straight year, Shannon Gaye and F.U.J.A. are back to set the patio on fire with their funk grooves and powerhouse vocals. From the most delicate melodies to sky high, roof-raising licks, Shannon is in full command of her voice.

Early musical influences include Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan and Stevie Wonder as well as Earth, Wind & Fire and Tower of Power. Shannon has always had an affinity for soul, jazz and R&B. Her tales are as layered and textured as the music she writes. On stage with her exceptional three-piece band F.U.J.A. (Funked UP Jazz Ambassadors) comprised of some of the top jazz/funk musicians in Western Canada, Shannon packs a powerful punch.

Shannon’s main collaborator and musical director is Kristian Alexandrov, a gifted pianist and drummer who also happens to be longstanding music director for Calgary’s Decidedly Jazz Danceworks.

Rounding out the ensemble are Ben Harries on bass and Andy Ericson on drums
