Yves Leveille Sextet
Space and intimacy combined with fiery passion.
These words only begin to evoke the depth of this
multi-dimensional pianist and his Montreal-based
ensemble. Since moving to Montreal in 1984, Yves
Leveille has been increasingly called upon to perform
his music at the national and international level. He has been working with the famed Effendi jazz label
since 1999, with which he has released 3 albums.
Yves has performed across Canada as well as in France, New York city and as far afield
as Singapore. He has recorded extensively for Radio-Canada and the CBC and has worked
as musical director and arranger for numerous singers and songwriters. Leveille composes
music for the theatre and has been teaching music at the Universite du Quebec a Montreal
for several years.
Joining Yves for this JazzFest appearance are some of the who’s who of the Montreal jazz
scene including Jean-Christophe Beney on sax, Roberto Murray on sax, Aron Doyle
on trumpet, Marc Lalond on bass and Ugo di Vito on drums.
